Viral Video: Papad-Making Process Sparks Hygiene Debate On The Internet
Indian food is renowned for its incredible diversity, ranging from curries and biryanis to flavourful street snacks and desserts. In addition to the rich culinary heritage, the process behind the making of some dishes is also unique to the subcontinent. While some preparatory methods are celebrated, others have also raised concerns. Desi papads are a widely popular crispy snack. In a recent Instagram video showing its preparation, viewers were left disturbed by the unhygienic conditions seen during the manufacturing process. In the video shared on Instagram by digital creator @dabake_khao, a woman is seen preparing papads. She starts by mixing papad batter - typically made from lentil, chickpea, rice or potato flour, along with spices and salt - using her bare hands.
Then, the woman spreads this mixture thinly onto a hot skillet, creating a cloth-like texture as it dries. The video also showcases large papad sheets being bundled together and cut into circular shapes using steel bowls that are pressed down with their bare feet. They are later separated and dried in the sun before being packaged.
The video has sparked concern over hygiene due to the handling of ingredients with bare hands and feet, as well as the open-air drying process. Taking to the comments section, a user wrote, “Hygiene left the chat. Another quipped, Aunty be like: Hygiene what is that?

Dearest Coffee Lovers! Add Roastery Coffee House In Dwarka To Your Checklist
Have you ever had an experience of oh-my-God-this-is-gonna-be-bad to oh-my-God-I-was-so-wrong ? Well, if you can relate, such was my experience visiting Roastery Coffee House, Dwarka, Delhi. Stuck in a location that dropped all hopes for the place, I was not impressed after witnessing the neighbourhood of the established Coffee House s Dwarka outlet. The cafe stands out with its remarkable architecture, sitting between an empty plot with broken stones on the right and a property dealer office on the left. The cafe has neat and cute outdoor seating, however, I was in no mood to see the traffic view when I sipped my coffee. As I entered, my ears were met with the chitter-chatter ambient sound, one fails to hear nowadays at fancy restaurants or trendy cafes with English music playing in the background.
While settling in my chair, I witnessed the robust coffee station where the magic of brewing happened. My eyes also soaked in the simple yet chic modern-Indian interior design. I was impressed with the natural lighting seeping in while the sun was still out, entering through a skylight and the huge glasses in the windows and entry door.
Beverages I Tried At The Roastery Coffee House:1. Peanut Butter BlendMy first order was an indulgent treat for cold coffee lovers. This milky coffee goodness had double shot expresso blended with ice cream and peanut butter. Despite the milkshake style of the beverage, I was happy to get a good flavour of the rich coffee.
2. Pourover CoffeeFrom the manual blend section of the coffee menu, I tried the pour-over coffee (hot), which is prepared with the cool-looking brewing technique in which hot water is poured through coffee grounds placed in a filter. The black coffee with no sugar was super smooth with an intense aftertaste.
3. Cranberry CoffeeI was excited and sceptical to try this unique blend of expresso with cranberry juice and soda. The verdict? It looked gorgeous and tasted fabulous! A must-try chilled coffee when you visit this place.
4. 72% Hot Chocolate With MarshmallowThis has got to be the thickest hot chocolate I have ever had. The beverage was flavourful and tasty, though it was a bit too heavy for me.
Food At The Roastery Coffee House:1. Roastery Signature Zucchini FriesI am a big fan of Zucchini Fries and was happy to try Roastery s version of them. The fries were coated with a delicious peri-peri marinade and paired well with a refreshing sprouts-pomegranate-onion salad.
2. Spaghetti Mutton BulognaiseThis delicious Spaghetti was like a hug from the inside. The flavours were perfectly balanced. Go for this dish if you are looking for something comforting and filling.
3. Peri Peri Chicken PizzaI liked this flatbread pizza with lots of cheese and succulent peri-peri flavoured chicken pieces.

Closing The Deal With Cakes:1. Burnt Cheese Cake SliceIf you like baked cheesecakes, then you will like this Burn Cheese Cake slice which is dense, flavourful, and melt-in-mouth. It comes with a piece of rich dark chocolate on top.
2. Strawberry Cake SliceOne thing I loved about the desserts here was that there was no whipped cream taking over the entire cake. Further, there was no sugar overload so I could get a nice flavour of each cake slice. Prepared using what seemed like fresh strawberry compote in between the layers and vanilla frosting on top, this is a yummy pick for strawberry fans.
3. Carrot Cake SliceThis has got to be the cutest cake slice on the menu, featuring a tiny cake carrot on top. The flavour was dreamy and the cake was sprinkled with a citrus peel zest, which added a charming note to the otherwise humble cake.

But let s confess, it is a bit time-consuming to first knead the dough, roll the rotis and then shape it with utensils. Well, a viral video demonstrates a time-saving way to make perfectly round rotis. The clip, which was shared by an Instagram digital creator (@rajput_jodi_) shows a woman first creating a long roll out of the kneaded dough. She takes the entire dough at once. Next, she flattens it using a rolling pin. After giving the dough a proper width, she uses a big bowl to shape the rotis. The clip shows the woman shaping 4 chapatis and keeping them all on the heated griddle at once. As the bottom chapati gets half-cooked, she tosses it on top of the other burner. She repeats the process with other chapatis. So far the clip has been viewed more than 28 million times.

What Is The Whole Foods Diet? Learn All About Foods To Eat And Avoid
If you are trying to get healthier or fitter, then you may be hunting for the perfect diet. However, many diets vary based on your age, medical history, diet preferences, lifestyle, where you live and so on. This can make it tricky to follow some diets, while others may not work particularly well for you. In such a case, you can simply get fitter and healthier by changing your approach to eating foods. One such approach is following the whole foods diet, in which the idea is not to follow any particular diet based on carbs or calories. Rather, it simply revolved around eating more of whole foods, and less of processed foods. Sounds simple? Read on to learn what to eat and what to avoid when following the whole-food approach to eating.
What Are Whole Foods? It is important to be able to understand and identify whole foods to change your eating approach. Rupali Datta, a Clinical Nutritionist, explains, When we say whole foods we mean foods like whole grains, fresh seasonal vegetables, fruits and unpolished pulses. Foods that are least processed contain the maximum nutrients and add health to food. They are also loaded with protective fibre and phytonutrients which help protect against NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases). The idea is to eat foods that are as close to their natural, unprocessed form as possible. So, for example, instead of packaged tomato sauce with a long list of ingredients you don t understand, you can prefer fresh homemade tomato puree. Here are some whole foods to include in your diet:
- Whole grains
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Poultry
- Seafood
- Eggs
- Plain yoghurt
- Cottage cheese
- Cheese
- Nuts and seeds
- Legumes
- Milk

Understanding The Whole-Foods DietThe whole foods diet is not a traditional diet, like the Mediterranean Diet or Keto Diet. Instead, it focuses on how natural vs. processed are the foods you choose to include in your diet. According to Harvard, although there are plenty of packaged food options for those on a plant-based diet, such as imitation meat burgers and kale chips, whole foods are still the best option. Similarly, if you want to eat non-vegetarian, choose fresh meat instead of processed options.
Almost All Foods Are Processed To Some ExtendAs you gradually switch to a whole-food diet, you will learn that almost all foods are processed to some degree or another. So, you need not cut off everything from your diet. Simply, avoid or reduce the consumption of highly processed foods. It is ok to eat lightly processed foods such as canned and frozen fruits and vegetables without added sugar and excess salt.

Switching to a whole-food diet can be done easily by preferring to eat fresh, home-cooked meals. While you make these meals, choose fresh and seasonal ingredients, instead of packaged sauces and other pre-packaged processed foods. Avoid anything with excessive sugar or salt in it. Some foods to limit or avoid include:
- Chips
- White bread
- Frozen pizza
- Frozen chicken nuggets
- Hot dogs
- Baked goods like commercial cakes and cookies
- Microwave meals
- Sugary chocolates and candies
- Frozen desserts
- Soda and other sweetened beverages
